If you plan to travel to France, it is well worth planning your car hire in advance. Whether travelling on the ferry or using Eurostar, you have the option of hiring a car in the UK or in France. If you fly, you may wish to pick up a car from the French airport or a nearby town.

There are a number of vehicle types available for hire, so take a few minutes out to consider some of the requirements you will have whilst on your travels. You may wish to consider the following points:

• What time of year is it and what part of France - will you need air conditioning?
• Plan to go off road or off the beaten track - will you need a 4x4?
