Halfway between Loire Valley and Chablis in northern Burgundy, 95 miles south of Paris and just 30 minutes from the A6 you will find Almarge our farmhouse where we can offer you accommodation in our beautiful studio gîte. Accessed via an external staircase with small viewing balcony, the studio which sleeps two consists of one very large airy room (original beams) with kitchenette, seating and sleeping areas, plus large separate shower room.
Well-equipped the studio includes, mini cooker, microwave, music centre and television, and double-bed.
Bed-linen and towels are included.
Outside there is a garden area for the studio with barbecue, table and chairs, and recliners.
Guests have unlimited access to the owners private swimming pool, which includes two patio areas and is located in the formal gardens.
A complimentary welcome hamper is provided, and although the owners are on hand to help with any queries, there is a comprehensive guide to the local area with maps and details of local restaurants, as well as information about Almarge.

Although set in rural countryside, Almarge is near a variety of activities and lots of interesting places to visit. There are walks through rural countryside or alongside canals.
For those who prefer two wheels, there are quiet lanes and picturesque villages to explore. Golfers can enjoy the greens of Domaine de Roncemay.
Nearby towns include, historical Auxerre and Joigny, with Paris as an option for a day trip.
Just 10 minutes by car is the small market town of St. Fargeau, picturesque and historic with its Chateau, in July and August it is host to a son et lumiere with over 600 actors taking part.
All within 30 minutes or less by car you will find many other attractions such as Briare where the Pont Canal (canal-bridge) crosses the Loire; amongst the longest of its kind in the world. Saint-Armand-en-Puisaye home to some of our local pottery. Guédelon, on the way to Saint-Armand, is a 25 year project to reconstruct a medieval castle using original techniques.
In a region renowned for its famous Bourgogne wines and gastronomic delicacies there are a wealth of good restaurants; nearest is just 10 minutes walk.
Strategically situated, it is easy to visit the different wine areas in the region round Almarge. Chablis is about one hour by car. Sancerre with its breathtaking views is a bit further makes a wonderful day out for a leisurely lunch followed by a tour round the various wine growers. Other local wines include Irancy, St Bris, Chitry and Côte d’Auxerre.
Our local shops are approximately 4kms away at Champignelles and include a medium sized supermarket, pharmacy and bakers. Throughout each week, on most days, there are markets in various villages and towns in the area.
